The South African Menopause Society (SAMS) recently released a statement from its Advisory Group on Compounded (Bioidentical) Menopausal Therapy.
The statement is written as an advisory for healthcare practitioners due to concerns about the widespread use of unregulated compounded bioidentical hormone therapy (CBHT). Since CBHT is unregulated, there is ongoing anxiety about the quality, purity, potency, efficacy, sterility and safety of these products.
