The International Menopause Society (IMS) established the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS) to support the delivery of the society’s Mission and Vision. CAMS is comprised of national and regional menopause societies. CAMS also provides support to establish menopause societies in areas where there are none.

CAMS has the following objectives:

  1. To establish connectivity and partnership working across the national and regional menopause societies and with the IMS.
  2. To actively engage in the delivery of IMS educational activities, events and World Congress, to support the development of new initiatives, and to encourage membership of the IMS within their country/region.

Steve Goldstein

CAMS Chair

Steven R. Goldstein, M.D., FACOG, FRCOG(H), CCD, MSCP is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Colgate University with a Baccalaureate degree in Biology. He graduated from the New York University School of Medicine in 1975 and did an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas from 1975 to 1976. He did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University Affiliated Hospitals/ Bellevue Hospital Center from 1976 to 1980. In 1980 he joined the Faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University School of Medicine, rising to his current rank of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a tenured full time academic position. However, in this capacity he maintains a half time private practice as a generalist in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is affiliated with New York University Langone Health.

His longstanding interests in Ob/Gyn ultrasound led him to his former position as Director of Gynecologic Ultrasound at New York University Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and is a Past President of this National organization. He is a Past President of the North American Menopause Society. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers having prepared the test and administered policy for the certification of over 40,000 sonographers nationwide. He is a past Chairman of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, New York Section. He was author of their Technical Bulletin “Ultrasound in Gynecology” as well as the author of their practice guidelines on SERMs (Selective Estrogen Receptor Moderators). He has served as the liaison physician from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to the Women’s Health Imaging Panel of the American College of Radiology. He has been an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

His pioneering work in menopausal and perimenopausal ultrasound led him into design of uterine safety studies for several Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators. In addition, he was the Co-Director of the Bone Densitometry Unit at NYU Langone Medical Center. Clinically his practice has evolved into issues of menopausal and perimenopausal medicine with particular interest in ultrasound applications both for adnexal masses and abnormal bleeding.

He has authored a textbook entitled “Endovaginal Ultrasound” and as well as one entitled “Ultrasound in Gynecology”. He has also authored “Imaging in the Infertile Couple,” “Gynecologic Ultrasound,” and one entitled “Textbook of Perimenopausal Gynecology”. He is one of the most highly recognized and regarded individuals in the field of vaginal probe ultrasound worldwide. He has authored more than 60 chapters in textbooks as well as over 140 original research articles. He has been a guest faculty member, invited speaker, visiting professor or course director over 500 times throughout the United States and, in fact, the entire world.

Dr. Goldstein has a long history as an advisor and consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. He has been on gynecologic advisory boards and/or consulted for AbbVie, Allergan, Amgen, Astellas, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Cooper Surgical, Eli Lilly, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Novo Nordisk, Wyeth, Proctor & Gamble, Warner Chilcott, Shionogi, QuatRx, Depomed, and Pfizer.

He has represented Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Mirabilis Medical in their appearances before FDA Advisory Boards. He has designed studies of uterine safety for Eli Lilly, Wyeth, Pfizer, and Glaxo Smith Kline. He holds two patents in the medical device arena. He has been a director of a publicly traded ultrasound company, Sonosite, Inc. from its inception until its sale to Fuji Medical in 2012.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. In 2023, he received the William J. Fry Memorial Lecture Award from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) in recognition of his distinguished career and contributions to the growth and development of medical ultrasound. Also in 2023, he received the Ian Donald Gold Medal from the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) which is awarded to an individual who has made a significant scientific contribution to the advancement of diagnostic ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and who has changed the way ultrasound is practiced through research or innovation. In 2019, he received the Holmes Pioneer Award from AIUM for his contributions to the growth and development of diagnostic ultrasound in clinical science. In 2016, he received the Clarkson Award from NAMS for lifetime achievement in menopause research.

Ho Choon Moy

CAMS Co-Chair

Dr Ho Choon Moy is the President of the Asia-Pacific Menopause Federation (APMF) and Malaysian Menopause Society (MMS). She is a Co-Chairperson of the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (CAMS) of the International Menopause Society (IMS). She is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Pantai Hospital Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.

Her qualifications include MD and Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the National University of Malaysia, Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRCOG), Masters Science in Antiaging, Aesthetic Med and Regenerative Medicine, Fellowships in Minimal Access Surgery and Robotic Surgery.

She has been actively treating menopausal women for the past 35 years. She was privileged to help in running the first menopause clinic in Malaysia. She is on the CPG Developmental Group Editorial Board for the Clinical Practice Guidelines on Management of Menopause in Malaysia, published in 2010 and 2022. She launched the Menopause Support Group (MSG) Malaysia in 2023 to give a voice to the women who were suffering from menopausal issues silently.

She speaks regularly to update healthcare professionals and the public on menopausal issues. In 1994, the King of Malaysia honoured her with the Kesatria Setia DiRaja (KSD) award for her medical services. She received the Great Women of Our Time Award in 2010 and the Successful Women Award in 2013 in Health and Wellness.


 

Tevfik Yoldemir

CAMS Co-Chair

Prof Tevfik Yoldemir is a full professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical School of Marmara University in Istanbul. He graduated from Istanbul University – Cerrahpasa School of Medicine with high honors in 1993. He did a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Aegean University in Izmir from 1993 to 1999. He completed tutorial courses for Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at East Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in 2001. He finished his REI-IVF training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Fertility Unit, Sydney Australia in 2002. Later he did a REI-IVF clinical observership at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, USA in 2002. He received approval from the Ministry of Health to work as a certified IVF physician in 2002. He also received his certificate of competence as a laparoscopic surgeon from the Ministry of Health in 2002. In 2006 he joined the Faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Marmara University School of Medicine, rising to his current rank of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a tenured full time academic position. He gives reproductive medicine lectures at the Medical School of Marmara University and the Health Sciences Institute of Marmara University.

His fields of interest and expertise are reproductive medicine and surgery, menopause and menstrual disorders, medical and surgical management of endometriosis, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic. In 2011 he completed the course “Strategic Leadership and Management for Reproductive Health Training of Trainers” organized by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Business Administration. He received his Master’s degree in Marketing in 2015 and his Doctorate in Marketing in 2018.

He is a member of IMS, EMAS, ESG, and ISGE. He is on the editorial boards of Climacteric, Gynecological Endocrinology, European Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Gynecological and Reproductive Endocrinology & Metabolism. He has been the associate editor of the journals Climacteric, European Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Gynecological Endocrinology. He has 85 peer-reviewed publications, 19 of which were published in Climacteric. He has a Google Scholar h index of 21. He has been an invited speaker at more than 75 national and international conferences. He authored and co-authored over 25 chapters in Turkish medical textbooks. Eight of these chapters were published in Menopause textbooks.
